Where is Odzala-Kokoua National Park?
Odzala-Kokoua is located in the Cuvette-Ouest Department, in the northwestern quadrant of the Republic of the Congo.
Its boundaries begin approximately 320 kilometers north of Brazzaville and extend toward the Gabonese border.
The park lies within the equatorial rainforest belt that forms the western section of the Congo Basin.
The primary air access point is through Mboko Airstrip, reached by private charter flights from Brazzaville’s Maya Maya International Airport.
These charter flights operate under booking arrangements managed by tourism operators with approved access. There are currently no scheduled commercial flights into the region.
Road access is limited and not advisable for tourism-related entry due to the remoteness and seasonal flood disruptions.
Surface travel from Ouésso or Impfondo is technically feasible but logistically complex, with unreliable conditions along logging routes.
A park headquarters operates near the village of Mbomo, located on the park’s southwestern periphery. This location serves as a logistical base for research teams, park rangers, and tourism operators.
